Il quasi-esordiente Jonathan Demme, insomma, si situa bene per scelta del soggetto: questo della discesa nell'inferno (magari all'inizio da paradiso) di sé stessi ha dato alla luce alcuni dei miglior film americani degli ultimi tempi. Detto questo, SOMETHING WILD resta ovviamente più in superficie degli esempi citati: gli manca, per accedere al sublime, il potere di trasformare in metafisico ciò che ' soltanto curioso o divertente.

Demme si limita - per modo di dire, perché in ciò é già bravissimo- a trasformare i suoi attori: li sveste e li riveste, li carica di tutti quegli orpelli (i vizi veri per l'uomo perbene, e quelli presunti per l'adescatrice) che trasformano la sua corsa sfrenata in osservazione sociale e psicologica.

Detto per chi ha fretta: è un film divertente ed exciting, ma che non rinuncia a pensare.

That said, SOMETHING WILD obviously remains more on the surface than the aforementioned examples: it lacks, in order to access the sublime, the power to transform into the metaphysical what ' merely curious or entertaining.

Demme restricts himself-so to speak, because he is already very good at that-to transforming his actors: he undresses them and re-dresses them, loads them with all those trappings (the real vices for the decent man, and the alleged ones for the luring woman) that transform his wild ride into social and psychological observation.

Said for those in a hurry: this is a fun and exciting film, but one that does not give up thinking.
