Tra il dedalo buio, tipico del filone “noir” al quale appartiene ed il biancore abbagliante dell’infinita giornata boreale nell’Alaska dov’è girato, INSOMNIA descrive l’itinerario di un poliziotto alla ricerca della propria integrità. Visto che, ai guai trascorsi, aggiunge quello di ritrovarsi ricattato dall’assassino per aver commesso un tragico errore.
Christopher Nolan (del quale si ricorda l’esordio con il curioso quanto tortuoso poliziesco sulla relatività della memoria, MEMENTO) rispecchia più che bene la sua storia in quell’ambiente dalle dimensioni assolute; dove i confini incerti fra l’acqua e la terra ricordano quelli altrettanto opinabili fra verità ed ipocrisia al quale si ispirano i personaggi del film.
Così, il regista non molla di un attimo le sue fisionomie: facile, mi direte, quando uno se le ritrova cariche di straordinaria fatica esistenziale come quella del solito, immenso Al Pacino.

Christopher Nolan (whose debut with the curious and tortuous detective story about the relativity of memory, MEMENTO, is remembered) reflects more than well his story in that environment of absolute dimensions; where the uncertain boundaries between water and earth recall those equally questionable between truth and hypocrisy from which the characters of the film are inspired.

In this way, the director does not give up his physiognomy for a moment: easy, you will tell me, when one finds them charged with extraordinary existential fatigue like that of the usual, immense Al Pacino.
